Singer, songwriter, musician, dazzling performer, Lindsey Harper, has arrived with a bang onto the pop music scene. Her powerful, sultry voice, in conjunction with her passionate on-stage live performances, have garnered her much praise over the past few years.
Originally from Baltimore, MD, the young virtuoso is currently making waves nationally as well as overseas. A third generation musician, Harper’s grandfather and father were both talented musicians themselves, Harper is a natural who gets better each and every time you see her perform.
Harper started her musical career at the tender age of six by singing in local community theater. Her passion for her music motivated her to sing live in front of anyone and everyone who would listen. Her natural talent led to the opportunity for Harper to sing in the Howard County Children's choir, and the prestigious Peabody Preparatory Children's Choir of The Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
Harper then went on to the acclaimed South Orange County School of the Arts High School where she sang and performed in Guys and Dolls, Les Miserables, and Man of La Mancha. She then starred as Anita in West Side Story during her senior year where she went on to win "Best Supporting Actress" at SOCSA and was a "Highest Achievement" MACY Award Winner for the role of Anita in 2004.
After high school she put her gifts to the test by enrolling in the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles where she completed a degree in Vocals and Piano. Her many accomplishments at the Musician Institute were so significant that head vocal instructor, Mike Campbell, said of her that she is one of the most talented students to ever graduate from MI.
In college Harper started her first band. This was where she learned to play piano and write songs. This creative outlet allowed Lindsey to share her personal stories about life as a young woman coming into her own. It is in these songs that she began to find that writing could allow her to share her innermost thoughts and feelings. This new outlet brought her lifelong passion for singing and performing to a whole new level.
Encouraged by the support, knowledge and experience that she gained at MI, she set out to develop her own unique musical style. A few of her many influences include Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, Billy Joel and Etta James.
The first incarnation of Harper’s brilliant musical voice came with her debut recording, LIVING, where she wrote, performed, and co-produced all 8 tracks. From the beautiful ballad about a young girl becoming a woman, “I am Beautiful,” to the raucous rock/pop “Because of You,” and the piano swing of songs such as “It Kills Me” and “The Awakening,” Harper has brought a raw intelligence to the stage that few can compete with.
In addition to performing hundreds of live shows, Harper’s many achievements include her performance of the title track of the indie film “Loving Annabelle,” which she also co-wrote;
she won the coveted Do It Yourself music award sponsored by Bug Publishing; she sang the theme song for the ABC Family hit series HUGE; has performed at numerous universities /college campuses all over the US (she showcased and booked her own NACA college campus tour sans an agent); and to top all of that off she is currently touring internationally with Selena Gomez as a background singer. She has toured with Gomez all over the world including South America (Chili, Argentina), Tokyo, Japan and Puerto Rico.
Her songs have been featured on MTV, VH1 and TV Land. She has made television appearances on The People’s Choice Awards, Ellen DeGeneres, Good Morning America, and Jimmy Fallon. She has shared the stage with Michele Buble, Katie Perry, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, as well
Adam Lambert, among many more with Selena Gomez. She has shared the stage as a solo artist with the likes of Rachelle Ferrell, Everlast, Take 6, Booker T and Stanley Clark and has had the opportunity to perform in front of an audience of 90,000 people at the Houston Rodeo. She also had the opportunity to accomplish one of her many dreams which was to sing at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
She still loves to perform live at some of her favorite venues in Southern California including Hotel Cafe and Saint Rocke, which just happens to be right in her own back yard of Hermosa Beach, CA, where she is currently working on her highly anticipated second album. What’s up next for the young artist? From the looks of all that she has already accomplished, her drive will continue to take her exactly where she needs to be – performing live for her many fans worldwide.
